Hey Guys,

Life in General:
Sorry I haven’t posted for a while. I’ve been a little busy with different things. Life can be so dull at times than others, there doesn’t seem to be a moments breath.  Yet, time goes by so fast we soon wonder where all the time disappeared to? It’s really funny how it happens. I remember when I was younger sitting on my bed at night journaling and thinking how wonderful it would be when I was older. Being able to drive and work with other people sounded so exciting and fascinating! However, now that I’m here it feels not so amazing. Don’t get me wrong, driving is great and exciting but everything seemed so much more when I was younger. I end up wondering where all this time goes and why it feels like it’s slipping between my figures.
Lifeguarding:
Only 24 more days until NLS! I can hardly wait. There are some things I have to work on which I have been doing. I don’t have strong egg beater which is an important factor in the course. It’s really important with different carries.  I feel confident in all the other areas so far except for this one. So, I’ve been going and practicing at the pool’s length time.
One of the things we have to do in NLS (how I know this already is because a friend of mine finished taking it a while back) is swim head up 15m, dive down and retrieve a 20lb weight and then carry it 5m using strong egg beater. That’s probably the one that’s going to challenge me the most. I’ve been practicing and so far the weight likes to drag me down. J I tried holding it a couple different ways and well, I think I’m just gonna have to keep trying. I’m able to do it with my head barely above the water. Not great….
I’ll keep practicing and we’ll see how things go. If you have any ideas for different ways to improve please let me know! I would love to hear! At this point I’m just going to practice with hands out of the water for a certain amount of time and doing lengths with it. J

Weather:
The weather has been pretty decent! Not too much hot weather though. Pretty mild I’d say. Cloudy some days with rain while others sun with a light breeze. It’s been a really strange summer. It’s really disappointing without the hot weather. I haven’t been to the lake once this year? What with that right? Well, for me it’s not that crazy. I don’t go that much anyways. J

Friends:
Summers are pretty boring without friends I would say. Hahaha. One of them is away visiting family members. Two others are away at camp. The other is kind of busy working at the moment so she isn’t really free to do too much.  On top of the aspect that some of them are away or busy others have girlfriends/boyfriends hence the third wheel. It’s just this part of life I suppose.
Don’t get me wrong, I really do like seeing my friends happy with someone, but some days I wish we were younger when everything was so carefree. Nothing really mattered that much then. Everything seemed exciting, not that it isn’t anymore. J Now, everyone is busy doing things with their girlfriend’s/boyfriends that for those who aren’t with anyone and yet are friends with the couple it seems weird at times.

Fun Fun:
My brother had to go to Smithers the other day for a fitness test. I think it had something to do with his paramedic thing. Anyways, we had to be there for around 10:30am so we left Terrace about 7:30am. The drive was nice. It wasn’t too cloudy so I was able to take some pictures. Not as many as I would have liked because my camera ran out of batteries unfortunately. While in his fitness exam I had around 2 hours to tour down Main Street and visit all the little stores.
It was so much fun! Most of the staff were friendly and nice. Being a smaller town it felt like everyone knew each other somehow which gave it a community feeling! They had really amazing sports stores! I absolutely loved their board shop! The design was amazing! If you are going to have a board shop that’s how you should have it! I wasn’t able to take pictures but take my word for it “it was cool”
I really could live there. At one point in time I thought I would never move their but I’ve changed my mind. J It’s cute, small, clean (somewhat), lots of things to do, not too too expensive, friendly and well I don’t know fun I guess.
I did a little bit of shopping. I bought a gray sweater which I’m very happy with. It’s really cozy and warm. It’s nicely fitted and looks stylish. I also bought a Dakine duffel bag. It’s purple and black checkered. Its medium sized and will be really handy! I’ll use it tons with my lifeguarding, especially through NLS.

Here are some pictures for you!

Lifeguard Wanta Be

Only another month until the NLS course! I can hardly wait to get that done and over with. Waiting almost feels like torturer. I’m excited to think that in only a couple months I could be working as a lifeguard. I’ve wanted to since I was thirteen. My dream is finally coming true. I will say, working with my former instructors will be a little weird. But I’m really too excited to think about that. I think teaching the lessons and courses will be my favorite part! I love working with the kids and seeing them progress.
Last fall and winter I helped my friend with his lessons and had tons of fun! The kids were all different and awesome. The only problem I have is getting attached to the kids. J  I was teaching kids who were only 4 years old. They were adorable! In one class there all boys except me and this little girl. She quickly became my little buddy. She was so sweet. I had a lot of fun helping him with his lessons. The experience was great. I wrote out the lesson plans a few times and was able to teach the class which was a great bonus.
My favorite course so far has to be my AWSI class. There were sixteen of us in total, which is a really large class! We had so much fun! For a few days we went outside on the lawn to work on our first Aid. It was probably the class with the most drama in it as well. It was a pretty easy course. However, half way through the course one of the girls got up and said she didn’t think she wanted to do it anymore. The course is a couple hundred dollars and to say that, is a little shocking. Anyways, I could sit here and talk about lifeguarding forever. However, I don't want to bore you. :)

Fun Adventures at Work

 Hey,
Today was an interesting day at work. I’ve been able to work more hours now that schools out.  We now have a new volunteer. He’s 11 and is pretty cute. Were going to have to set up a schedule because he would be here all day everyday if he could. That`s how much he loves hanging out with us. :)
Yesterday I let him take out one of the Chihuahuas for a little girl. When she said “Oh, I wish I could buy one.” He replied with a frown “Where do you think you would get 700 dollars?” He meant no harm but he definitely made me laugh. Then while down stairs with Shirley, he helped her find two aquatic frogs for a customer.  As she was bagging up the two that the customer had requested our little volunteer came running over and whispered “Shirley, I found two more! Ask them if they want four!” He’s so cute and tons of fun! He’s a good worker and loves helping with the animals.
The little Chihuahuas we that just came in are adorable! I fell in love with the male. He’s a bit darker than the rest and has cute little white paws.  I named him Pocko as a temporary name. I would buy him other for the fact that I wouldn’t have enough time to spend with both Bells and him. I’m just too busy with life guarding and work at the moment. Not to mention Grade 12 in the fall.
It’s crazy how time flies. Feels like only yesterday waking up and being excited that I would soon be thirteen and own the title of teenager. That’s now almost four years ago. Sometimes I wish time would just stand still so I could catch up. But that’s not reality. Life is a race and everyone runs their own road. Not knowing where it will end or how.
The weather still isn’t that great here. It’s really unfortunate because it’s now the middle of July and it feels like May. Oh well, I guess we are all a little late at time. It rained all week and then we had sun on Wednesday!  It was nice and warm and I finally was able to wear a t-shirt and shorts.  Hurray! Funny how that works.
I`m starting to go to the gym again. Feels great. Haven`t gone for a few months :( I was just too busy. I`m also practicing some of my strokes, rollovers and carries with a few friends of mine. As you know, when I get nervous I practice and practice. Helps me feel more confident and not so stressed.
Well, I have another busy day tomorrow. Going over to a friends house to show them how to start a blog. Should be fun! The off to the pool for you know what. :) I hope to post some pictures soon. Sorry I haven`t been able to charge my camera. Anyways, I will blog again later. Hope you all have a great night!

A Poem I Wrote

I was a little bored on my lunch today so I took out my laptop and started typing. I ended up writing a poem. The poem is about my little chihuahua named Bella. :) Hope you like it. Let me know what you think. I love reading your comments.

My Little Chihuahua

She was small and cuddly when I took her home
As tiny as a teacup, she weighed as much as foam,
Having golden colored hair it looked as pretty as Ma’s
Almost like mittens were her white paws.

Whimpers and whines filled the first few nights
It only all started when off went the lights,
A compromise was made, which ended her in my bed
Whines and whimpers stopped as she fell asleep by my head.

Potty training started and ended with great results
To which Katie replied “Great job Bella, you’re now like the adults.”
Nails were trimmed with great ease and great care,
Shampoo was rubbed in for great smelling hair.

Now almost fully trained, Bella enjoys her new life
However, weighing only 3lbs I doubt she’ll be a wife
Gone outside with Spirit, tag they gently played
The barn full of wild cats was not an area they chose to raid.

Rescue on the other hand, who is our household cat
Doesn’t like Bella too much, and mostly behaves like a brat
Bella’s playful character only seems to annoy her
Barking when strangers enter, about that Rescue’s just not sure

Bella is now a part of the family and brings us great joy
She sleeps; she eats and then plays with her new toy,
Happiness and pleasure is what she brings
Everything seems perfect, well, until the telephone rings
  “Bark, Bark, Bark, Bark, Bark.”

Life

Hey,

Today was a day. Haven't been able to do much biking because of all this rain. It's July and our summer hasn't really started yet? Gets pretty depressing sometimes. It's funny though because it makes going to work not seem so bad. :) Weird how that works. I wanted to work in the garden yesterday but that idea soon got squished by the rain. :p Oh well, it'll have to stop sometime right?
Justin, my brother is pretty excited this week. He just found out he is able to go to Costa Rica with a group of friends. He talks about it not stop. :) I've honestly never seen him so excited. I'm glad he is able to have this great experience. As for me, well i probably could go if I really wanted to but I don't think it's really my time yet. It's really not something that interests me at  the moment. I may in the future though.
Steven scored his first couple goals at last nights game. He was so excited. It's his first year in sports and hes doing amazing. He definitely has the energy and body for it. His only problem is Asthma. He has to take it easy at time which sometimes frustrates him cause all he wants to do is go and go and go. :)
Jonathan is now volunteering at the store. He's so cute. We at times have to remind him he's only 7 because when he wears his little yellow volunteer shirt he seems to believe he's way older. :) He's better then me I will say when it comes to snakes. Having never touched one myself he frequently reminds me that i work at at Pet Store and should come over my little fear of the adorable till corn snakes. :) They are actually cut, I will admit. However, in the cage they stay or in someone elses' hands. :)
Katie was adorable the other night. My mom was just trying to go to sleep when Katie, who was laying next to her said "Mommy, I'm in your eyes! See!" pointing to my mothers eyes and seeing her reflection. I love her so much!

Pictures of the Trip

Here are a few pictures that the family took on their trip to Saskatchewan.

Sick days

Hey,
Sorry I haven't been posting much lately. I've had a cold for the past couple of days and have been doing a lot of sleeping when I get home from work. Life has been pretty good lately. A little bit stressful but hey, whose doesn't have stress in it? So who am I to complain.
My family just came back a couple of days ago from Saskatchewan. They went there for a week to look around. They seemed to have had a lot of fun. Michale and I stayed behind to look after my younger brother so it would be easier for them. We still had a couple of shifts we had to work so we took turns babysitting.
I will try and show you some of the pictures they took. It's so flat there. It's a different kind of beautiful to be honest. Here we have mountains and trees. There they have fields and rolling hills. Not to mention the thunder storms they get. My dad said that they ran into one on the way there. It rained do hard you couldn't even see the car ahead of you. Most people just pulled over until the storm passed.
They also stopped at Edmonton mall. I had been there when I was younger, around eight I think. Hearing the kids talk about certain things brought back great memories. They went to the pool which is something I didn't do though. They had so much fun! The slides sounded great. My mom laughed because she thought we ad a lot of lifeguards are our pools but there, there were lifeguards everywhere! :) There were two for every slide and every pool. One can never be too safe right? :) They need it though for all the people they have.
Well, I had better go. I'll probably end up going to bed early. I have to work tomorrow and need I'm going to need the energy. Next week a lady from head office is coming! Shes tons of fun! We will be doing some courses. I'll only be taking one of then seeing as how it would be a waist as I am leaving hopefully in October. I'll let you know how it goes. :) Feel free to leave comments! I love to hear what you think!
